I really enjoyed making this cake, especially as I've never made it before. The end result left me feeling disapointed and deflated, because it didn't rise much and doesn't have a cakey like texture in the middle of the cake. It's more like a rubbery cheese texture. I added my melted butter when it was still hot, is this right, or do u need to wait until it cools? Maybe that has been what's contributed to the way it's turned out. Can anyone give me any advice as to why my cake has turned out like this? I don't know why it has turned out like this, because I followed the recipe exactly. The only thing I can think of is that I used cheap flour and hand whisked it, instead of using an electric whisk, so maybe I didn't whisk it enough.

Ciao Giovanni! The melted butter should be added in the cake mix, before baking it, not after. Hope it helps 🥰

Thanks for responding! I did add the melted butter before cooking. I had another look through the recipe and saw that it was 2 tablespoons of baking powder. I only put in 2 Teaspoons, so I reckon that's why my cake didn't rise much. I shared it with people in my literacy group and my friend, and they all loved it, even though it hadn't risen much.

I am making this recipe today and I was searching through the comments and found yours. The recipe shows 2 teaspoons. Did you try this again with more baking powder since your initial try?
