Multiple user errors here.
I made recovery moves. I ended up with sweets and soup thickener from the starch and the (failed) seitan will still be usable as dumpling bites in chicken soup. I will be back in a few weeks with the next trial.
As per another review, yes, messy. I dared adding a photo.
