The soup turned out incredibly bland and watery; not in terms of consistency but in terms of flavour. It was very lackluster and I had to add pretty much everything I could find to add some volume to the flavour.
I ended up adding extra milk which did nothing, then went for sour cream followed by shredded parmesan...still nothing. Added in parsley, thyme, onion powder, garlic powder, old bay...improved after the spices but still not creamy enough. I ended up adding more sour cream and then a bit of a shredded cheddar blend.
It improved and was palatable after the spices and cheese was added. If I had heavy cream in the house I think that would have been best but I made do with what I had.
I would give this a 3/10 for the posted recipe but I think my additions helped it improve to a 7ish/10. I wouldn't make it again with the original recipe that's for sure.
