Instructions

Step 1
In a medium sized bowl sift together the flour, cornstarch and salt. Give it a mix and set aside.
Step 2
In a separate bowl beat together the butter and sugar until pale and creamy. 2-3 minutes. (hand or stand mixer)
Step 3
Add in the egg and mix until fully incorperated.
Step 4
Add the vanilla extract and give it one last mix.
Step 5
Add the dry mixture into the butter mixture and fold together until fully combined.
Step 6
Put the dough onto a large piece of plastic wrap and fold one side of the plastic wrap over the dough to cover it. Roll it out to 1/4 inch thickness. Refrigerate for 2 hours.
Step 7
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius).
Step 8
Place the chilled dough onto a floured surface and dust some more flour on top. If needed roll it out more. Cut out the shape using your choice of cookie cutters, then place carefully onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Step 9
Roll out excess and repeat the same process until all of the dough is used up.
Step 10
Bake for 12 minutes then let them cool completely before decorating.
