Step 1
In a medium saucepan, whisk milk and sugar together. Cook over medium low heat and bring to a low simmer while whisking often.
Step 2
once the milk has reduced by half, roughly around 30 minutes, remove from heat and sister in butter, vanilla, and a pinch of baking soda.
Step 3
Let it cool completely and store in an airtight jar in the fridge. It will continue to thicken once cooled in the fridge.
Step 4
This makes around 1 1/4 cups and will keep up to 3 weeks in the fridge.
