Instructions

Step 1
Set aside about 1/2 cup of cereal and a handful of chocolate chips. Set aside about a 1/2 cup of marshmallows to toast. Save the butter stick wrapper to use later.
Step 2
In large saucepan melt butter over low heat. Add marshmallows and stir until almost completely melted. Remove from heat. Working quickly, add the cereal to the marshmallows and stir to combine. Add the chocolate and stir to combine.
Step 3
Immediately scrape the mixture into the 13x9 greased pan and press firmly into an even layer. Use the leftover butter wrapper to help smooth out the mixture.
Step 4
To balance the sweetness, sprinkle a bit of kosher salt on top of the mixture
Step 5
To finish decorating, sprinkle set aside cereal and chocolate chips. To add more of a campfire taste, top with toasted marshmallows. To toast marshmallows: Heat the broiler to high and set the rack in the upper third of the oven. Grease a broiler-safe 8- or 9-inch square pan, then add a cup of marshmallows in an even layer. Broil until deeply browned on top and smoking, about 1 minute. (Watch closely, as broilers vary.)
Step 6
Let cool completely, then cut into squares or bars. Store, covered, at room temperature for up to 3 days.
