Instructions
Step 1
Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
Step 2
Mix Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Step 3
Mix Dry Ingredients: In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually blend this dry mixture into the butter mixture.
Step 4
Add Chocolate and Nuts: Stir in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using.
Step 5
Shape and Bake: Drop the dough by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake in the preheated oven for 9 to 11 minutes or until the cookies are golden brown.
Step 6
Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes. Then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.
