Instructions
Step 1
Bring the orange juice, brown sugar, honey and syrup to boil. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.
Step 2
Remove from stove and stir in the butter, baking soda and salt.
Step 3
Add mixture to the bowl of your stand-mixer and wait until lukewarm.
Step 4
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and spices.
Step 5
Add flour mixture to stand mixer and knead with dough hook until it becomes an adhesive dough. If it feels too sticky in your hands and does not come together, add a little more flour 1 tablespoon at a time until you can form it into a ball without it sticking to your hands.
Step 6
Wrap the dough in cellophane and chill in the fridge overnight.
Step 7
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Step 8
Thaw dough on counter for 30 minutes and roll between two sheets of parchment until dough is about 1/4" thick.
Step 9
Handcut shapes and place on cookie sheet.
Step 10
Bake cookies for about 8-10 minutes, turning once at the halfway point.
