Pour water into the pot, bring to a boil.
Step 3
Wash cranberries, throw away brown and soft berries (if you use frozen berries, don’t thaw them).
Step 4
Put cranberries into a pot with boiling water, add cloves and boil in a covered pot over medium heat for 15 minutes.
Step 5
Then strain off the cranberries and pour the liquid back into the pot.
Step 6
Mash cranberries through a fine-mesh sieve (it’s optional, if you want you can use whole berries or mash just half). Pour puree back in water where the cranberries where boiling and bring it to a boil again. Add sugar and stir.
Step 7
Dissolve starch in cold water. It should be quite thick.
Step 8
Slowly pour dissolved starch into the pot, in a thin stream and stir constantly. Heat the kissel over medium heat until it starts boiling. Then turn off the heat and set the pot aside. Leave kissel to cool down completely. Enjoy!
