Instructions

Step 1
Instructions 01 Preheat oven to 180 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit) using conventional oven settings (top and bottom heat). Mix hot espresso with 3 teaspoons of instant coffee.
Step 2
02 Peel 4 apples, cut them into eighths, remove the cores, and mix with half of the lemon juice. Peel the last apple, coarsely grate it, and mix with the remaining lemon juice.
Step 3
03 Mix the flour with the baking powder and salt. Grind 2 teaspoons of instant coffee in a mortar and pestle and mix with 2 tablespoons of sugar. Cream the butter with the remaining sugar for 5 minutes, then gradually beat in the eggs.
Step 4
04 Stir in the vanilla and cinnamon.
Step 5
05 Stir the flour mixture, cooled espresso, and grated apple into the batter. Pour the batter into the prepared pan, arrange the apple slices on top, press them lightly into the batter, and sprinkle with the coffee-sugar mixture. Bake the cake for about 45 minutes and dust with powdered sugar before serving.
