Instructions

Step 1
Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over medium heat. Cook the macaroni noodles according to the package directions, about 7 to 10 minutes, or until al dente. Drain well using a colander.
Step 2
While the pasta drains, add the flour and butter to the pot, and cook until thick and bubbling, about 1 minute. Add the milk to the pot, and whisk vigorously to break up any lumps.
Step 3
Reduce the heat to low, and cook the sauce until it thickens. about 2 minutes. Do not boil the sauce.
Step 4
Remove the pot from the heat, and stir in the cheese. Continue stirring until all the cheese is melted, about 1 to 2 minutes.
Step 5
Fold in the macaroni noodles, season with salt and pepper, and serve.
