Sad Papi's Thanksgiving Turkey

5 steps
Prep:30minCook:2h
It's Turkey Day, and when Chef Brandon (@sad_papi) was asked to do a turkey recipe, he was asked for simple, easy, delicious; so, that's what we're going to do. We're not going to cut up the bird, we're not going to flip it every 30 minutes, we're not going to shove a can of beer up it's A**... The only thing Chef Brandon recommends is using a meat thermometer -- You don't have to open the oven all the time to check the temperature.

Instructions

Step 1
Heavily salt and pepper the cavity of the bird. Add apple, orange, onion, garlic, and herbs to the cavity of the bird.
Step 2
Take butter and rub it underneath the skin, and then when you're done just rub your buttery hands all over the turkey.
Step 3
Insert the probe to the thickest part of the breast. Cover the breast with foil. Roast the legs and thighs in the oven at 450°F for 30 minutes, then take the foil off and drop the heat to 350°F and roast until the internal temperature is 163°F.
Step 4
Everybody's turkey is a different size, but the general rule is 13 minutes per pound -- this depends heavily on the oven temperature!
Step 5
Let the turkey rest at least 30 minutes. Beautiful, moist, turkey! Top with giblet gravy and cranberry mostarda.
