Instructions

Step 1
Preheat oven to 450 F
Step 2
Cut butter into small pieces and place in the freezer for 10 minutes.
Step 3
Mix milk and lemon juice or vinegar together for your buttermilk mixture. Let sit 10 minutes
Step 4
Mix all dry ingredients together while waiting on buttermilk and butter to harden in the freezer
Step 5
Cut butter into flour using a fork or pastry cutter
Step 6
Add in buttermilk and whisked egg until soft dough forms. Don’t overmix, dough will be slightly sticky
Step 7
Add one tbsp of flour on a piece of parchment paper. Place dough on top of flour, drop the other tbsp of flour on top. Slightly flatten the dough and fold dough over itself twice.
Step 8
Form the dough into a round that is about 1 inch thick and 7 inches in diameter.
Step 9
Cut the biscuits using a biscuit cutter or mason jar lid. Make sure not to twist while cutting or it can crimp the edges and cause the biscuits not to rise well.
Step 10
Put your 12 biscuits in a greased pan and bake for 15-20 minutes at 450 F. Make sure to check around 10-15 minutes. All ovens are different.
Step 11
Brush melted butter over and enjoy!! Make my gf/df sausage gravy recipe to go with, its amazing!! P.s. you can always leave the sausage out!
