Step 1
Preheat oven to 180°C.

Grease a 9x13 pan with some butter or oil.
Step 3
In a bowl, stir together the flour, cocoa, sugar, baking soda and baking powder.
Step 4
In an another bowl, whisk together the butter, flaxeggs and milk, vinegar.
Step 5
Add the wet mixture to the dry mixture and whisk until well combined.
Step 6
Add the cake batter to the pan and spread evenly with a spoon. Bake for 30 minutes, until you prick the cake in the center with a knife, and it comes out clean.
Syrup
Step 7
While the cake is baking, add the sugar and water to a saucepan and bring to a boil.
Step 8
Cook the syrup for 5-10 minutes until it thickens slightly. No need to stir while it boils.
Step 9
Remove from heat and whisk in the cocoa powder, salt and vanilla extract.
Step 10
Once the cake is baked, divide it into pieces and immediately pour the hot syrup over the cake while it's still hot.
Step 11
Let the cake cool down completely then refrigerate, ideally, overnight.
