Step 1
Preheat oven to 350° F. Spray a 13- x 9-inch baking pan with vegetable cooking spray.
Step 2
On a sheet of waxed paper, sift flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
Step 3
In a large mixing bowl, using an electric mixer set on high speed, beat peanut butter and margarine until blended. Beat in sugar and vanilla.
Step 4
Add egg and egg whites, beating until light and fluffy. Beat in applesauce and cinnamon. Stir flour mixture into batter; fold in chocolate chips.
Step 5
Spoon batter into prepared pan, smoothing top. Bake just until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out almost clean, about 30 minutes. Cool in pan on a wire rack for 15 minutes. Cut into twelve 4 inch squares and cool completely.
