Golden Sombrero

Inspired by a very similar cocktail at the Rally Bar in Denver, CO. I would describe it as a smoky, spicy, earthy alternative to popular tequila cocktails like margaritas. The Rally Bar used Ancho Reyes verde chile poblano liqueur, which is hard to come by. Ancho Reyes chile ancho liqueur (same manufacturer, but made with ancho chiles instead of poblanos) is a good substitute and available at Total Wine. Rally Bar used Dano's Dangerous tequila blanco, which is local to Colorado and may not be widely available. Imo, any quality tequila blanco (white tequila) is a good substitute. Casamigos or Cenote are highly rated tequila blancos that won't break the budget. Slightly cheaper substitutes like El Padrino, which you can get at Total Wine, or Espolòn should also do perfectly well. The measurements might not be exactly the same as the original cocktail, but I worked them out at home and it tastes great this way. The Rally Bar serves this cocktail in a lowball glass, as do I, but it can likely be served in a margarita glass if you'd prefer.
