Instructions

Step 1
In a small bowl dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside.
Step 2
In a large bowl mix flour, baking soda, baking powder, salt and sugar.
Step 3
Cut in shortening.
Step 4
Stir in yeast mixture and then buttermilk and blend thoroughly.
Step 5
Refrigerate until ready to use.
Step 6
Preheat oven to 400°
Step 7
When ready to bake turn out though onto floured board knead slightly.
Step 8
Roll out 3/8 inch thick and cut with a 2 inch biscuit cutter.
Step 9
Place on a greased pan and allow to rest slightly.
Step 10
Brush with milk before baking to have a golden crust.
Step 11
Bake in the middle of the oven. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
