One-Minute Pizza Sauce
2 steps
Prep:1min
I’m all about keeping things as simple as possible. So why fuss around with cooking a fancy pizza sauce for pizza night when you can open a good quality can of crushed tomatoes, add a few extra ingredients right into the can and stir?
I always use Mutti Polpa tomatoes for my red pizza sauce. The Mutti Polpa tomatoes are always flavourful and the perfect consistency for a simple tomato sauce, but other crushed tomatoes are of course absolutely fine. Look for the words ‘crushed’ or ‘polpa’ on the can. If you can find crushed San Marzano tomatoes, get those. They are the type that are traditionally used on Italian pizzas. They are favoured because they are sweet, they only contain a small amount of water and seeds and they’re low in acidity. All of these factors mean that the toppings on the pizza will not be competing with the sauce to take the spotlight.
