HELP

I recently just discovered I have multiple food allergies (dairy, eggs and gluten) and I’m struggling to find recipes I really enjoy. I can be picky but I want to try new things I just have no idea where to start

Try some fresh ideas with asain cuisine. it will make it easier to avoid gluten and dairy, at least. Rice dishes, kimchi, sushi, spring rolls, Korean fried chicken wings, tofu, spicy rice cakes, Thai curry, bulgogi, gimbap. Egg may appear in some of these, but they can easily be taken out.

hello! What types of foods did you really enjoy, or kind of given they probably caused you discomfort! Happy to find some more specific suggestions for you as there is sooo much out there :)

The Simple Veganista has a lot of vegan gluten-free recipes: https://simple-veganista.com/recipes/diet/gluten-free/. I'm a vegetarian with many food allergies (dairy, eggs, gluten and peanuts are my big ones) and my family that isn't vegan/vegetarian will then add whatever protein (chicken/fish) to dishes i make if they want it not vegan. Forks Over Knives also has some gluten-free vegan recipes: https://www.forksoverknives.com/recipes/vegan-menus-collections/15-of-our-favorite-gluten-free-vegan-recipes/. Usually I look for vegan recipes (cuz they will be dairy & egg free) and then just sub/alter it to make it gluten-free.

Also tamari is a great gluten-free alternative to soy sauce! And I believe you can also find gluten free versions of miso paste (one of my favorites). I make a vegan risotto that honestly is better than cheesy risotto!

I have the same issues. I search for vegan recipes and find the most success that way. Vegan doesn’t have to be gluten free but often is so just watch the tags.

Highly recommend Banza pasta - made with chickpeas and it’s a good boost of fiber and protein! Also, for your dairy is it lactose or all dairy? I’m lactose intolerant but can have aged Parmesan because there’s hardly any lactose in it. I also recommend all the other resources above! I cook a ton of Korean, Japanese, and Vietnamese dishes with rice or rice noodles. You can also find 100% buckwheat soba noodles (they’re a bit more expensive). I’d also put a plug in for some Mediterranean dishes (like falafel or hummus) - tahini is an underused ingredient!

I think you’ll find a lot of good options with legumes—chick peas, black beans, etc. Good luck!

When I first discovered all of my allergies, all I could eat were recipes that were AIP safe. Unfortunately, I’m also allergic to coconut, that limited me even more! But it gave me a really good place to start. There are many more AIP recipes online than when I started! Hang in there! 🤗

Hey Kendra, yeah I would also ask you what kinds of food you usually enjoy..? I have this cookbook that I love— Vegan for Everybody, by America’s Test Kitchen. I’m not actually vegan but I use that cookbook all the time because the recipes are just so good! That will cover the dairy and eggs, you’d just have to watch out for gluten and adapt any recipes that have it :)
