How did you guys that offer positive reviews even finish this recipe? For me it was a complete, utter failure, can't even begin to describe the disaster.
I followed instructions to the T, so something else must be wrong. First of all, the oats did what you can expect oats to do: they sucked up all the milk and thickend before i reached the stove, so i added a lot more milk. Then, as expected, the outer layer of the mixture instantly carbonised and began smelling awful, as oats do in these conditions. The pan is ruined, the meal is ruined.
To save some face i added the rest of the mixture to a heat resistant pan and into the oven, hopefully to get some kind of cake
How ever did you guys make this recipe work???
Later edit: my husband said the resulting cake is the best thing ever served with maple syrup, while my 9 month baby devoured it, served with yogurt. So I guess yay? Baked in the oven, it could work as a decent flourless cake base.
