The word is "nitpick", not "nick-pick". I assume you are American, because elsewhere in the world, "shrimps" is very common. And it's grammatically correct. A quick peek in a dictionary can confirm this for you. Whenever a recipe calls for produce that may vary somewhat in size, it's always assumed to be an average, as you might get from a market. If "half of 1 lemon" has thrown you, please do not attempt to bake a fruit pie.

You kind of have to do citrus juice by taste. Sometimes, you get a really juicy lemon with mild juice you could pretty much drink straight. Other times, you pucker if you even dip the spoon in, or squeeze the lemon and only get 4 drops of juice. Kind of like the zucchini. Go to the store and buy the size and shape you want, but grow it, and you get what's on the vine. But I do understand that some people want more precise measurements. I like charred green onions in salsas, so I'd be willing to give it a try, and I know of few foods that would not be improved by a splash of wine. Believe it or not, adding a little wine can reduce the acidity of a dish if you find that you added too much lemon. What can I say? I like to play with food.
