I think it means just hot coffee, so ground coffee that had hot water poured through it using either a coffee maker or a pour over. And it is confusing, but I think they literally mean a measured cup, so 8oz😊 I'm sure you can use any liquid coffee though, whether you wanted to use a plain latte or even coldbrew. I think it'll be fun to experiment and see what me and my family likes best! I hope this helped at least a little
