I used ground venison to make this; i unexpectedly have a freezer full of deer meat thanks to an enthusiastic acquaintance, and I was looking for a way to make use of it. my husband (our resident carnivore) said this might be better than chili made with beef! I used one can of pinto beans and one can of light red kidney beans, keeping in mind the lighter flavor of venison. I also added red and green peppers. next time, I'll remember to add corn; i was trying to keep track of the cooking method, and forgot this time around. note, I didn't add the brown sugar or apple cider vinegar, but I might have to try that, since so many reviews have mentioned them being a plus!
I'll try this recipe again at some point with beef; I think it'll be a hit, as well!
