I made this in a crockpot with half ground beef and half ground turkey, I didn’t have kidney beans or a jalapeño but used hot Mexican style chili powder. It still came out delicious paired with cornbread on the side.!!
I think the reason some people are saying it’s soupy - they might be adding the whole can of beans with the liquid. That’s the first thing I noticed in the recipe and wasn’t sure about it, so I googled and it said you should drain and rinse the beans first. So that’s what I did, I even added the liquid from the drippings of the meat and separated the fat from it and it still came out nice and thick.
