Really chocolatey - in a very good way. One could tell that this pie baker didn't use a pudding mix! I was running out of whipping cream so used only half of what was called for. It looked fine especially with shavings of chocolate on top but it would have looked spectacular with all of the whipped cream on top. BTW I used King Arthur's instant Klear Gel to stabilize the whipped cream. It works very well. Finished product stays looking nice.
