I don't use mixed spice (no clue what that is), so I just add extra cinnamon and nutmeg. I also swap dates for raisins and pecans for walnuts. Instead of maple syrup, I use double the amount of brown sugar. It's absolutely lovely, and both my husband and I enjoy it. I make a big batch, store it in jars, and keep it in the fridge, so we always have breakfast or a sweet treat ready. It tastes even better cold and keeps well in the fridge.
