I made sure to have all the correct ingredients so I made no substitutions. Made this last night. It was very good and I'll definitely make it again. I doubled the recipe. It served 2, with enough leftover for 1 large or 2 small lunches. I did add additional veggies. Snap peas, water chestnuts, and bok choy. I used Napa cabbage but I might try Savoy cabbage next time. After eating some of my dinner I added a good teaspoon of chili garlic sauce for some heat. Next time I'll add a little less, lol, it definitely amped up the heat.

With what can I substitute the wine as we don't get Chinese wine in South Africa

You can order it through Amazon. Otherwise a good substitute is dry sherry. NOT cooking sherry, but drinking dry sherry. Usually found where ever alcohol is sold.
