Made this tonight! So good! Easy & quick. I added very finely chopped onions and all my fave salt free seasonings to 1 lb ground beef in a bowl and stirred it all together. That's the beauty of this recipe... you can really make it your using your favorite spices. Then divided the mixture into 4 equal parts & made 4 balls. This worked best for the size of our buns. I cheated and toasted the buns in the toaster & no butter due to time constraints.
We loved it salt-free but next time I'll add just a pinch of salt ;)
Sauce: Used ingredients in recipe minus hot sauce plus my own ingredients... Very good. Definitely use less lemon juice than stated the recipe or it will be too runny.
This was my first time smashing burgers. I never fry food in a skillet. Used oil in a hot pan as directions stated and was sprayed with hot oil while smashing!! Wear oven mitts. The oil turned dark brown while cooking... Maybe I used the wrong oil. Didn't effect the flavor of the burgers, luckily. What's the best oil to use for high temperatures?
