Instructions

For The Sauce

Step 1
In a small bowl, combine the mayo, ketchup, hot sauce, and lemon juice. Stir it until a sauce is formed. Refrigerate until use.

Prep The Toppings

Step 2
Roughly slice your onion and separate it into individual strands. This doesn't need to be perfect.
Step 3
Slice your tomato and hit it with a generous amount of salt.
Step 4
Slice your pickle however you like.

Toast your buns!

Step 5
Toast your buns in a hot buttered skillet until they develop some browning. This will prevent the burger from going soggy.

For The Patty

Step 6
Form your ground beef into a ball. Season it on one side.
Step 7
Place the ball seasoning-side down in a ripping hot and oiled skillet.
Step 8
Place a piece of parchment paper on top of the ball. With the help of a burger press or a heavy-bottomed pot, press the ball in order to create a smashed patty. Spread it out thin!
Step 9
Season this side of the patty as well, and add your onion bits on top of it.
Step 10
After brown on one side, flip the patty. Place a slice of American cheese on top to melt and cook for another 30-ish seconds.

Assembly

Step 11
Assemble the burger in this order: bottom bun, sauce, lettuce, tomatoes, burger patty, pickles, sauce, top bun.
Step 12
Enjoy!
