Great base recipe of chili spices and flavors to tweak to suit to your own tastes. The best one I have ever tried, and I have tried A BUNCH.
I used smoked paprika because it was what I had on hand and I also added 2 tsp of cocoa powder with the rest of the spices. I simmered the meat and spice mixture for a while without the beans, and added them later so they wouldn't break down into bean mush (refried beans).
So good on baked potatoes with cheese, sour cream and chives.
