I’m from New Orleans and really wanted to like this version of red beans but the salsa was just wrong. It left such a strange taste. We couldn’t finish these beans. But….. I’ve made this recipe again without the salsa and it tastes more authentic. Don’t waste good salsa and good red beans. These two cultures both have wonderful food but in this case, they shouldn’t be mixed. And please don’t put tomatoes in my red beans or my gumbo. My mother would be offended.
