Day old rice is the trick to it not clumping together

I feel like even that doesn't guarantee success for me...

I'm not sure if gummy and clumping are the same thing but this is what I found. To keep rice from getting gummy, thoroughly rinse the rice multiple times to remove surface starch, then use the correct water-to-rice ratio for your rice type (often about 1:1.25 for long-grain rice), and finally, cook it with a proper heat setting (simmering, not boiling vigorously) and let it rest undisturbed after cooking for a few minutes to allow the grains to firm up.

Thanks for your input, Shirley. I gotta admit, I feel like I did all of those things.
On the other hand, I didn't wait for the water to boil before putting the rice in. Maybe that's my problem (at least this time).

I have found that minute rice (Jasmine)cooked in the microwave seems to come out the fluffiest for me. Probably not the healthiest, but it only takes 5 minutes.🙂
