Love! This is the second time making them. I ran out of buttermilk and used 1 cup buttermilk, half cup heavy whipping cream, and they turned out even better. Also, the halved dates on top look like dead cockroaches (I'm from the south, they are everywhere) so I cut them up and put them in the batter instead (the dates, not cockroaches).

lol… the dates on top are purely bonus round, dates in the batter, a MUST. Hahaha, we are not, I repeat, NOT, going for cockroach muffins. Love the cream addition. How could they not be terrific with cream?! Buttermilk gives you added lift. You can always ‘fake’ buttermilk in any recipe by adding a tablespoon of lemon juice or white vinegar to milk, let stand for 2 -3 minutes and TADA. Thanks for your review. ❤️
