It does look like that, but the other things that are that color are the kidney beans. I assume it's some sort of optical illusion with the kidney bean and maybe a tomato or a garlic clove that creates that shape. There's no chocolate in the recipe, nor would it work well, IMHO.

I've seen chili recipes with chocolate or cocoa powder.

Several Mexican moles have chocolate in them, and I suppose you could do a chili in a similar manner. But at least to my taste there needs to be some sort of bridge between the tomatoes and the chocolate. Most of the moles I've seen have a wide and rather remarkable list of diverse ingredients including various nuts and seeds, fruits like raisins or plantains, and bread or tortillas in addition to the tomatoes, tomatillos and, onions, garlic and chiles. And they generally use Mexican chocolate which besides lots of cane sugar has lots of cinnamon. I've always marveled at the work involved in making them before the invention of the blender. It's possible there are other ways, but I'm not lining up to taste it.

There's a 'Mexican Twist' option on the recipe page where you stir in a small square of chocolate in place of the sugar. I assume the picture is of that option.

I think it is a Stock pot.

Yes it’s a square of dark chocolate, I opted not to add that when I made it
