I've been making this dish for years and it's a huge hit in our home. I personally just dump it in the crock pot on low and let it do its thing. I use fire roasted canned tomatoes with garlic in it. Also, in addition to the taco seasoning, I add granulated garlic. The longer it cooks the thicker and more flavorful it gets, almost like a stew or chili. We top it with shredded cheese, sour cream, and tortilla chips. It's perfect for cold, rainy or snowy nights. The perfect comfort food!
