I doubled the recipe so that 8cups of broth was made instead of 4 and used 6c of beef broth and then made 2 cups of broth using the beef granules. I wouldn't add all the sugar I found that it made the broth too sweet so be conservative with it. You can always add more later if it needs more. I charred the onion and ginger under the broiler to add more complex flavor and toasted the spices in a skillet. I also added 2tsp of whole coriander seeds to the spices. I added some lime juice to taste and a couple sprinkles of red pepper flakes to help fix my sweet broth. Tastes pretty close to the real thing so it's great for a quick pho recipe!
