I don't return the meat after I have shredded it. I found it much easier to add the chicken and monterey jack cheese to bowls and containers than to try to get it out of the instant pot. I add the chicken base for a little extra chicken-y flavor. I don't find that this needs added salt due to the contribution of the cheese, salsa and chicken base.
