Accidentally deleted my review so here's my review for the second time I've made it:
I forgot the peppers the first time, and it was delicious so I left them out again. The first time my peas felt underdone so I threw them in with the broth and let them cook the whole time. I liked that much better for my tastes.
The rice has such a rich flavor. Its really amazing. I rinse and soak my rice first, but maybe it's not necessary for this dish.
This is one of my favorite meals. It makes really good left overs for work lunch too. Maybe a little too spicy for my 12 year old, but I used Conecuh brand hickory smoked sausage because it's what I'm familiar with. A milder sausage may be just as nice. I cut bigger chunks of sausage this time and I liked that better than the skinny rounds.
I will make this until I die.
