I used half the sugar and made 1 batch and a half to cover a 8-9 inches cake. I wouldn’t use the amount of sugar in the recipe, it would be definitely too sweet!!

Thanks for the tip! I did as you suggested making the frosting recipe 1 and ½ times to frost an 8’’ cake. I used 4 cups of sugar. It was much like a ganache frosting. Turned out really well.
