← Replies in Mujadara (Lentils and Rice with Caramelized Onions) Recipe

This took a little longer with the onions than some other dishes but it's so good! It's definitely worth it. I made a homemade shatta to have with it and the flavor combination was stellar. Even without the shatta, this recipe is deceptively flavorful considering its simplicity. The only downside is the cooking time, but well worth it!

A spicy sauce/condiment made with jalapeño - I used this recipe when I made it, if I am not mistaken: https://cookieandkate.com/shatta-middle-eastern-jalapeno-sauce/ - though, the original recipe is really good even without this. I jarred some for my boyfriend (we were each cooking and trading meals at this time so we could have more variety for less work), and he forgot to eat the shatta with the dish and still really enjoyed the dish!
