This is not carbonara. Use egg YOLKS, add the mixture of cheese in there and the bacon fat. Don't use garlic. Take the crispy bacon (if you can use pancetta or guanciale could be better) and put it aside, toss the egg mixture in the pan with a a cup of pasta water, this will create a creamy sauce, finish the cooking of the spaghetti in the pan and put the bacon in there (the crispiness remained)

Why no garlic? I use garlic in mine all the time. I also use a little cream cheese as well as the pasta water. I know, heresy! But I use cream cheese in my homemade Alfredo sauce too. My neighbor and my husband were both stationed in Italy for awhile. Neighbor said it's the best he's had since his time there. I did a bit of a double-take on the egg WHITE myself. 😆 I sure hope that was a typo.
