For as bad as I messed this up, it is still worth me making a second, proper attempt. First, I didn't have actual milk so I subbed almond milk. Not that big of a deal except I also only had reduced sodium chicken broth, so I found I needed to add a good bit more salt and pepper to get the taste up. And then...I cheaped out on the biscuits so not enough covered the top and they were just okay. I'd like to try this again with the layer biscuits like another reviewer mentioned doing.
