Wow!! These biscuits were great! Fluffy, tender, flaky, and crispy on the outside. Just yum! Here are the modifications I made...
I didn't have whole milk but I did have cream...so I used 1/2 a cup of cream and 1/2 a cup of water and whisked it together. I also didn't have cream of tartar so I just added a tablespoon of lemon juice to my cream mixture to make a buttermilk. Instead of 4tsp of baking powder, I used 2T...so just 2tsp extra. I grated the butter until it was too melty to grate, then I just chopped the rest of it up then stuck it back in the fridge til I was ready to use it. My dough mixture was NOT sticky...it took 15 times of kneeding it to get it to come all the way together...then I rolled it out and cut it with a large glass. Don't twist...just push straight down. Baked for about 11 minutes. From start to finish 30 minutes or less.
