I never even heard of this until I saw an add for a commercial one. That just called it pickle salsa, but, when I looked up recipes, several used this play on words that told me this is already a "thing". I don't associate "authentic" Mexican food with a "hot and sour" vibe, but this definitely has an interesting spot in fusion cuisine.
