Okay indulgent story time: I needed 2 tablespoons of almond butter for a recipe and thought, I could just go out and buy a jar and figure out other stuff to use it for. OR. I could make it myself! I had all the ingredients required and having never made homemade nut butter before, I felt like trying something new. And it turned out better than I expected.
I toasted the almonds beforehand, as per the recipe, and transfered them to the blender. That's when things got a bit worrisome as the almonds stayed powder-y for quite a while and I thought I had messed something up. But I calmed my perfectionist anxiety down and just kept blending, blending, blending. AT LAST, the almonds began to smooth out and the almond butter in the picture was born.
I didn't add anything to the finished almond butter save for a little more cinnamon. The house smells amazing now which is just an added bonus haha! I for sure recommend trying this out if you have the ingredients and want/need of almond butter. I've never had the store bought kind, but I doubt it compares in taste and the overall good feeling you get when making something from scratch. Great, easy recipe 👍
