So I want to love this recipe. I really do. The directions are perfect for making an black bean patty that has a good consistency. But the seasoning was not what I was looking for, exactly. My daughter summed it up well: this is like having refried beans on a bun. I think I will make this again, but leave out the cumin and chili powder - perhaps sub in some steak spices instead to give it a bit more of a 'burger' flavor. Next time I would also make the patties a bit larger: I followed the author's recommendation of 1/3 cup per patty (made 12), would move to 1/2 cup (make 8). So if you are looking for a recipe that makes black bean burgers that taste like - well, like Mexican black beans - this is the recipe for you!

I completely agree. I made this too and my family agreed, wayyyy too much cumin. I'm going to try again taking out those 2 spices too.
