The original recipe calls for 1/2 chicken, 1/2 pulled pork. That isn't how I made it, but I'll try it sometime. If you do add pulled pork, the recipe recommends adding it at the very last step before final seasoning.
The original recipe suggests that if the consistency is thinner than you'd like, at the end of step 3, simmer it uncovered on Saute' - Medium for a few minutes, stirring often, until it reaches your desired consistency.
The original recipe calls for fresh or thawed beans and corn. I cooked from frozen and it was fine. The veggies were fully cooked and had a nice crisp texture.
I didn't have smoky barbecue sauce, so I did the recommended amount of regular sauce plus 1tsp of liquid smoke and it tasted wonderful.
