I totally messed up by cooking it with the root beer and BBQ together but just added some cornstarch after shredding and it thickened up really well, absolutely delightful flavor. We made it for dinner and then let it continue on low overnight and SO MUCH MORE DELICIOUS the next day for lunch. Absolutely will do again.

I was wondering why you said you messed it up by mixing BBQ & root beer and cooked. I reread the recipe and did the same!!! I always add it to cook and then discard the liquid and add more sauce if desired. But I think I'll try the corn starch today!
