I used Better Than Bouillon instead of beef broth plus extra 1/4 cup in lieu of red wine. The colour was very pale and looked like chicken gravy. I added a package of Brown Gravy mix to enhance the colour and added beef drippings to enhance the flavour. The end result was amazing! I made this earlier in the day then reheated.

I'm making this today without the wine as well. Nice heads-up on the color. I have Kitchen Bouquet I'll add to it. Not sure if you've heard of it but a little goes a long way! My Great Grandma uses it in her gumbo and now I always keep a little bottle in my fridge.
