The recipe calls for milk, broth, and butter instead of water to cook the pasta and veggies. Since all of it gets cooked off, it’s a complete waste of money (I wasted at least $6 by following these steps). There’s no reason for the wastefulness either. Just use water instead of the milk, broth, and butter. When everything is cooked, drain the excess water, and add the milk and butter (broth if desired) until the ingredients are covered to your liking.
Also the cook times were completely off for the pasta. The noodles turned out way too over cooked. I would recommend just following the directions on the box instead. (You could also just steam fresh broccoli and carrots at the same time that you’re cooking the pasta, in order to save time.)
The third thing that made this dish terrible was the fact that by adding the veggies there wasn’t enough cheese for the whole dish. I ended up using 2 additional cheese packets from other boxes in order to give it an evenly cheesy flavor. (And, I now have 2 boxes of Mac with no cheese.)
I do not recommend trying this recipe unless you like to waste time and money.
